The Leonides S. Virata Memorial School (LSVMS) kicked off its week-long celebration of the school’s 31st founding anniversary on January 15, 2018 at RTN Oval, Rio Tuba, Bataraza, Palawan.
The opening ceremony started with a Grand Parade of the school community from Kinder to Grade 12,alumni, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) members and officers, faculty members, and staff.
School Principal Mrs. Noeme G. Benetua explained in her welcome remarks why the foundation is celebrated every month of January.
“Through the resolution of the Board of Trustees of the RTNFoundation Inc, our school was officially named Leonides S. Virata Memorial School on January 15, 1988,” Mrs. Benetua emphasized.
In addition, Silver Jubilarians Class 1993 headed by their class president Mr. Laurence P. Amores, Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC) COMREL Supervisor, sponsored the different alumni homecoming activities. They were presented by Mrs. Vilma C. Dotimas, former teacher and the class third year adviser.
The opening ceremony included the much-awaited Cheer Dance Competition among the Junior and Senior High School levels. The crowd enjoyed the daring stunts, colorful costumes, and energetic choreography coming from Grades 7 to 12.In the end, the Grade 10 was hailed champion while Grades 12 and 11 placed second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, the Executive Committee Members for Foundation Week Celebra-tion 2018 headed by Level Assistant Principal Ms. Ma. Teressa E. Carranza were also recognized during the openingprogram.

foundation of the school so that we would be able to know our history as an institution. Thus, this celebration makes
us remember the people who have gone through many situations that made what LSVMS is right now,” Ms. Carranza said in an interview.
Visitors from La Salle Green Hills, Mr. Rheal D. Dayrit,Administrative Services Head Administrator, and Adult Night
High School teachers and students, Ms. Angeliene A. Tulauan, Ms. Jobilee D. Melecio, Mr. Gabriel Antonio D.Mendoza, Ms. Ana Ria B. Aguilar, and Mr. Kent Alfred E. San Felipe, also joined the school’s founding anniversary during their visit to LSVMS from January 17 to 20.
This year’s founding anniversary with theme “Celebrating 31 Years of Service and Excellence” included other major activities like the LSVMS Exhibit, Tinda Sa Nayon, Palaro ng Lahi, Cookfest, Science Olympics, Math Fair, Kite Flying, Literary – Musical Contests, Pinoy Questival, Painting Contest, P.E. Day (Field Demonstration), eCan Trash Contest, Bb. at Lakan ng Kalikasan, Alumni Day, and LSVMS Family Day. Also, there were night activities like the Parents’ Night: Adonis of the Night, Students’ Night, Mentors’ Night, and Grand Alumni Homecoming Night highlighted by the awarding of the Most Outstanding Alumni. All activities were done from January 15 to 21.
