PEAC-LASSSAI partnership: geared towards excellence for the improvement in the quality of education in the philippines

The Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), the trustee of the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE), has been mandated to support programs and projects that will contribute to the improvement in the quality of Philippine education. Focus is given to the development of the private education sector, which is a partner of government in providing quality education and in recognition of the complementary roles of the private and public schools.

Quality education is delivered by effective schools. All students can learn and achieve, and there are a number of school-based factors that positively influence learning outcomes in schools such as clear and focused mission, strong instructional leadership, and safe and orderly environment, to name a few.

The Leading for Educational Achievement Program, or LEAP, is a program of assistance for private schools to support school improvement efforts through a mechanism of partnership with experts who will guide the schools in initiating and sustaining initiatives that will contribute to improving student outcomes.
For the pilot implementation (2018-2019 to 2020-2021), the PEAC approved a partnership with the Lasallian Schools Supervision Services Association, Inc. (LASSSAI) to provide educational consultancy services in the areas of administration and governance, instructional program, and school personnel.

The Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between PEAC, LASSSAI and the PEAC-Grantee Schools was held last July 19, 2018 at the Villavicencio Boardroom, Henry Sy, Sr. Hall De La Salle University, Manila.

During the remarks of circumstance delivered by LASSSAI President, Br. Narciso S. Erguiza Jr. FSC, he mentioned that it has been a long time since De La Salle has been involved in the ministry of schools supervision. “It must have been in the 1960’s that we embarked on schools supervision and that means basically to be able to help in supervising schools so that they can become quality schools.”

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Private Education Assistance Committee reiterated that “PEAC is mandated to be a funder, advocate, partner and enabler of private schools.”

We congratulate PEAC and LASSSAI for embarking on this partnership!
